Made to Measure Toughened Glass Panels

Are you looking for toughened glass cut to size for a specific purpose? Maybe you need protective covers for table tops or furniture, replacement glass for broken windows, doors, or bath screens, or made-to-measure balustrade or partition panels?

Whatever you need clear glass cut to size for, we can help at The Glass Warehouse. With our simple ordering system, all you have to do is select the desired shape and glass size, filling out the details of your height and width requirements to generate a quote.

When you’re satisfied with your selections, add the bespoke safety glass product to your basket and complete the checkout process to choose delivery and payment options. Our team will then get to work manufacturing your custom glass order.

If we need to confirm any details, we’ll be in touch to ensure you receive exactly what you expect.

Custom Glass Thickness with Polished Edges

As you can see from the product listing above, ordering custom toughened glass from The Glass Warehouse is easy. Just select the glass thickness, choose the shape, enter the dimensions within the width and height ranges, then specify any extra features you need to achieve your custom design.

This includes drilled holes, which must have an internal radius no less than half the thickness of the glass, radius corners with a polished edge, dubbed corners with a grey edge, or cut-outs for hinges or sockets. There’s also the option to add a polymer coating for low-maintenance cleaning.

If the specifications you need aren’t available in the categories listed above, don’t worry – we’re confident that if you contact us to discuss your requirements, we can come up with a solution for bespoke glass cut to size in your desired dimensions.

Simply give us a call on 020 8500 1188 if you have any questions about the process or products, or send an email to info@theglasswarehouse.co.uk with information on your bespoke specifications and we’ll let you know how we can help.

Please note that order processing and shipping can take longer for bespoke orders, depending on the level of customisation requested and the delivery location.

Our Clear Float Glass and Safety Glass Collection

We offer a wide range of different glass types here at The Glass Warehouse, so if you would like something other than clear glass – be it low iron or laminated glass, or even mirror, frosted, tinted, painted, or printed glass – we may also be able to provide a bespoke product and personalised quote.

If you’re searching for ultra-clear glass with reduced iron oxide, our extra clear toughened glass offers a low iron alternative – providing all the benefits of regular toughened glass, but with improved clarity. The reduced green tint makes this finish ideal for products such as shelves and shower screens.

Again, you can always get in touch if you need assistance ordering toughened safety glass cut to size. As trusted suppliers in the glass industry, The Glass Warehouse will do everything we can to deliver nothing less than the best for our customers.

What is the main difference between toughened and laminated glass?

Toughened glass is designed to shatter into thousands of tiny, blunt pieces to reduce injury risk. Laminated glass, on the other hand, features a plastic (PVB) layer that holds the panel together if impacted.

Both include a safety-conscious benefit, which is why toughened glass cut to size is often used in glass products for homes and businesses. But thanks to the structural maintenance afforded by laminated glass, this is considered to offer superior safety and security.

If you aren’t sure what you need and it isn’t specified, contact the Glass Warehouse team for bespoke recommendations that suit your latest project.

What safety standards does toughened glass comply with in the UK?

There are a few key standards toughened glass products need to comply with to be used and sold in the UK, including:

  • BS EN 12150 – which covers the manufacturing and testing requirements of thermally toughened soda-lime silicate safety glass
  • BS EN 12600 – this standard covers the pendulum impact test that classifies glass based on how it breaks. Toughened glass must achieve a “Type C” safe breakage mode to be used.
  • BS 6206 – this older, once commonly cited standard covers safety glazing, but it has largely been superseded by BS EN 12600 now.
  • BS 6262-4 – which sets out a code of practice for glazing in buildings.

Toughened safety glass is also discussed extensively in Approved Document K (England & Wales), to set out exactly where toughened glass needs to be used in critical locations (doors, low windows, bathrooms) to avoid injuries. If you have specific standards or legal parameters you need to make sure you cover, we can advise on suitability before you order if you get in touch beforehand!

How long does toughened glass last?

Toughened glass is a durable material that can remain in service for many years when correctly installed and maintained. Unlike some materials, glass does not significantly deteriorate with age under normal conditions. Its lifespan will depend on its application, installation, exposure and whether the edges become damaged.
