Custom Mirror Glass

Here at The Glass Warehouse, we offer a vast range of made-to-order mirror designs, so you can find the perfect fit for your home or workspace.

Customisation Options

  • An array of shapes and sizes

Our mirror range includes a variety of modern and classic shapes, making them ideal for settings of all kinds. This includes rectangular and arch leaner mirrors and pebbles, or more traditional round, square, and rectangular, and large-scale gym mirrors.

If you need a custom-size mirror, choose our bespoke mirrors for easy designing!

  • Colour finishes

Want to make sure your mirror fits perfectly with any colour schemes you already have in your property?

These colour/tint choices include classic silver, subtle grey, and warm bronze – with low iron glass or an aged ‘antique’ bronze finish also available, depending on whether you want to achieve a crisp and modern look or curate a more vintage aesthetic.

  • Safety backings

If you need made-to-measure mirrors cut to size for sensitive environments, many of our designs can incorporate a safety backing to help prevent accidental breakage, which brings mirrors up to a Class A safety rating.

You can also choose a foil backing to prevent condensation build-up in bathrooms and kitchens.

  • CNC-precision cutting for wall features

All our mirrors come finished with a polished edge, but we can also add other extras like drilled holes, cut-outs, or notches if you need a specific shape for your installation.

  • Protective polymer coatings

Designed to help extend the lifespan of your custom mirror by protecting it from moisture, humidity, scratches, and abrasion, polymer coatings can help keep your mirror looking good for as long as possible.

Possible Uses of Custom-Made Mirrors

The bespoke mirrors that we supply at The Glass Warehouse are designed to fit seamlessly within any room in a home, office, or commercial or leisure facility.

Our custom mirrors are suitable for use in a wide range of applications, including but not limited to:

  • Leaving cut-to-size mirrors frameless for a modern finish or in frames for a traditional feel
  • Using them as wall cladding and splashbacks
  • Cover cupboards, display cabinets, and wardrobe doors
  • Give the effect of a room extension without the price tag, so it can reflect more light, making the room look brighter and feel more spacious
  • Improve dressing rooms or walk-in wardrobes and give them a more luxurious finish
  • Make the most of the best parts of the room, such as artwork and windows

What styles of bespoke mirrors are popular for modern homes?

For homes that are contemporary, we recommend choosing frameless mirrors, silver finishes, and shapes such as squares, rectangles, and arched mirrors.

These give spaces a distinctly modern feel – helping to keep your new, made-to-measure mirror perfectly in-keeping.

What is a low-iron mirror?

Low-iron mirrors simply remove the green tint often seen in standard mirror glass. While it’s still transparent, clear glass typically has a green-ish hue, which is especially visible in the darker colour around the edges.

The blue-green tint comes from the iron (ferrous oxide) used in glass manufacturing – so, to remove it, less iron is used to produce a much clearer glass. Low-iron glass is essentially the ultra-clear version of standard glass.

This, therefore, presents a higher-quality image with optimal clarity, which is ideal for glass mirrors when a crystal-clear reflection is required.

Low-iron mirrors are highly popular in commercial buildings, thanks to the crisp reflections the extra-clear glass can provide when used to craft custom mirrors.

This clear mirror type is a popular choice for upscale establishments like restaurants, hotels, or boutiques. However, these mirrors are also useful in the home for elevating vanity tables and dressing rooms, for example.

Should I use foil backing for bathroom mirrors?

It is typically recommended that some kind of backing be applied to all mirrors in order to protect the silvering from deterioration. However, on the occasion of installing a bathroom mirror, using a foil backing becomes even more important.

In damp environments where moisture can easily build up, like bathrooms or kitchens, water and mineral deposits can have a direct impact on the quality of the mirror. Moisture can gather behind it and cause gradual erosion, especially with corrosive salt, which can lead to rust.

With the simple application of a foil backing, you can protect the glass from being affected as easily by water ingress, helping your investment to go much further.

At The Glass Warehouse, most of the made-to-order mirror designs we supply are available with the option of a foil back, which you can select when customising your order if you will be installing your mirror in a moist environment.

Will clear backing stop mirrors from breaking?

Safety-backed mirrors are typically much sturdier when it comes to enduring impacts.

Made from polypropylene, the backing is applied on the underside of the mirror paint and serves as a barrier that can absorb the majority of the pressure if an impact were to occur.

As standard, safety backing is applied not only to prevent a mirror face from breaking, but also to reduce the risk of injury. It can prevent sharp shards of glass from forming by holding the glass pieces in place against the mirror backing.

However, please note that whilst clear backing has a huge impact in stopping a glass mirror from shattering into dangerous pieces, it cannot guarantee that the mirror won’t break. If the impact is strong enough, your mirror could still be damaged or break entirely. You can reduce this risk with a secure installation.

It’s also important to note that safety backing is not the same as foil backing, and the two are not interchangeable.

What are the different types of bespoke mirrors?

When it comes to crafting high-quality yet affordable bespoke mirrors, The Glass Warehouse has everything you need and more to create glass mirrors cut to size!

Thanks to our state-of-the-art-technology and in-house specialists, our team can manufacture a wide variety of bespoke frameless mirrors to suit all tastes and styles.

Our diverse selection of popular frameless mirror designs includes:

Square, rectangle, or round mirrors – Traditional and angular or contemporary and curved, you can choose a classic mirror that fits into your chosen setting perfectly.

Free-standing leaner mirrors – If you don’t want to mount your mirror, you can always lean a large mirror against a wall instead for a more low-effort look and flexible positioning.

Frameless wavy mirrors – The trend of pond or pebble-shaped mirrors with asymmetrical edges is growing; who wouldn’t love the whimsy of a puddle-shaped mirror?

Low iron bespoke mirrors – Perfect for superior image quality when you want a super-clear reflection, our low iron mirrors offer unrivalled clarity with a reduced green tint.

Coloured mirrors – Looking to create a truly unique focal point? Our range of coloured mirror glass is a big hit for those looking for something a little different, with tinted mirrors available in silver, grey, bronze, and antique bronze finishes.

Any of these styles could make a perfect design feature for any home or commercial space. Whichever mirror type or installation method you go for, it’s sure to look great.

However, not all pieces of glass are suitable for framed mirrors, so if you’re planning to mount a made-to-measure mirror in a frame, you should bear this in mind.

How do I make a mirror wall?

Ideal for enlarging the appearance of a smaller space, enhancing the level of light, and creating a visually interesting focal point in any room, mirror cladding is fast becoming an interior design trend for forward-thinking customers.

At The Glass Warehouse, our bespoke mirrored glass is perfect for aesthetic cladding, and it can also be applied as furniture cladding in many cases.

  1. The first thing to decide is which area you want to embellish, and the style of glass you’re going for. From low-iron glass for clarity to tinted glass for coloured mirrors, there are many designs you can pick from.
  2. Remember to measure the space carefully and select the right mirror thickness that can be mounted safely. You can request custom cut-outs to fit around different features if needed, and while a polished edge is the default, you can ask for dubbed or radius corners.
  3. Once designed and delivered, fitting mirror glass is much like applying tiles, but without the need for grouting! The most important step is to ensure the surface you’re working on is clean, removing all dirt and dust to prevent complications with adhesives.

You may opt to lay your made-to-measure mirrors in straight lines, or you could go for a specific layout or pattern, potentially with gaps in between for a stylised design. The choice is yours, depending on the look you’re hoping to achieve.

Remember, our team is always on hand to help guide customers through the entire process. Whatever your query, don’t hesitate to give us a call whenever you need our insight.

How do you clean a glass mirror?

Streaks and spots on mirrors can be the bane of any business or homeowner’s existence. They need to be cleaned quickly to restore a pristine appearance and smooth reflective surface.

Luckily, glass is one of the easiest materials to clean, because any build-up of grime on the sleek surface can be wiped off with relatively little effort – even in the corners.

This is especially true if you opt for a mirror type with a polymer coating that can repel scum and rust, which is an available extra when you order one of our bespoke mirrors from The Glass Warehouse, in addition to the standard polished edge.

The basic tips that should help you keep mirrors clean and smudge-free are:

  • Never use chemical cleaning agents or abrasive cleaning tools
  • Tackle stains as soon as you spot them, as they will be easier to remove when fresh
  • Wipe in a side-to-side direction while moving top to bottom to avoid messy streaks.

A solution of warm water and soap, and a soft microfibre cloth, should be all you need to wipe a dirty mirror clean and achieve a crystal-clear reflection again.
