What can be Printed on Your Splashback? 

Ideal for your kitchen, in an art studio, or even in the bathroom as an alternative to tiles, you can print almost any image on a glass backsplash from TGW, as long as: 

  • You have permission to use the image
  • The images are high-resolution to stop pixelation 
  • The file doesn’t exceed 12MB and is in either a JPG, PNG, or GIF format

It’s important to note that any required cut-outs, for example, for sockets, can interrupt the image and small details around the edges or holes/cut-outs might be lost. 

As long as your image meets these parameters, which most will, you can immortalise your favourite family snap, a beloved pet, a favourite design, or even a company logo, on your wall for years to come.

Easy cleaning 

Cleaning a glass backsplash couldn’t be simpler. With a non-porous surface and no cracks or crevices, a quick wipe with warm water and a gentle detergent should be sufficient to get off even the most clinging of grease.

How to Install Your Printed Glass Splashback 

No matter if you choose to use an adhesive or screws, a second pair of hands when installing is recommended!

  • Prepare the surface 

For optimum adhesion, walls need to be clean, dry, flat, and dust-free. Dust and debris on the walls can stop adhesives from bonding properly or lead to issues with slipping and movement. 

  • Check the fit 

Dry-fit (hold up the splashback) in its intended position to ensure it’s the right size, is aligned as it should be, and will work around features like socket cut-outs.

If you are fitting with screws, you can mark through the pre-drilled holes at this point.

  • Apply the adhesive or install wall plugs 

Using a mirror or glass adhesive, apply small, vertical beads across the back. Large blobs can seem tempting, but can create unevenness. 

If you aren’t using adhesive, drill the pre-marked holes and insert wall plugs. 

  • Position the splashback

Being careful not to drop it, position the splashback on the wall, using spacers if needed to keep gaps even. Press firmly, but gently, to allow the adhesive to bond. 

If you are using screws, position the splashback in place and insert screws through the glass into the wall, tightening gently by hand to avoid cracking the glass. 

  • Add finishing touches 

Adhesives should be left to cure for 24-hours before the glass is exposed to heat or moisture. If you’ve used screws, you can now cover the screw heads with the decorative caps for an uninterrupted design. 

In the meantime, however, whether you have used adhesive or screws, you can apply clear silicone sealant around the edges for a clear, watertight finish – something that will also make cleaning easier.

How to keep your printed glass splashback in good condition

Though created to be hardy and durable, following these top tips will keep your printed glass splashback looking good for as long as possible.

  • Clean daily, or as needed, with a damp cloth and mild soap to remove dirt and debris 
  • Use gentle degreasers that can sit on the glass for 5 – 15 minutes if the surface is heavily soiled
  • Ensure all glass splashbacks are installed 10cm away from naked flames or heat sources
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, steel wool, or abrasive scouring pads, as these can cause scratches
Are printed glass splashbacks high-quality?

Carefully manufactured in-house right here in the UK, using specially toughened glass that meets the safety standards required for domestic use, we can personally attest to the high quality of our glass splashbacks. 

Plus, as the image is printed onto the back of the glass, there is a toughened, protective layer sitting in front that protects it from scratches and fading.

Can I use screws on all printed splashbacks?

Glass splashbacks can be screw-fixed instead of glued, but they must be manufactured with pre-drilled holes before being delivered to you. 

Easier to remove later and best for uneven or tiled walls, affixing with screws is preferred for many reasons. But you can’t add the screw holes at home – you need to select this option at check-out when ordering. 

Attempting to add your own holes later will almost definitely result in cracked and damaged printed glass splashbacks.
